I love the expression on his face, the eyes and the snake back pattern... well the snakes head is kind a like an different part, its like that picture is from 2 pics put together - i mean that if you would have drawn only the boys head and to another paper only the snake, both of them would have worked also alone without eachother, they would have been superb in that situation too.
God is in details!

He is smiling cos he is a Parseltongue and the snake is whispering a joke to him ! lol
that photo is indeed trully beautifull, i like the combination with the snake .
